George Keith Stevenson starts operations in Fremantle with the purchase of the first vehicle, a solid tyre Fisher truck. Stan Holland joins the business.
1930’s
John Curtin (Australia’s 14th Prime Minster) leads the nation at the peak of World War II.
Keith Stevenson (Jnr) officially joins his father in the family business.
1950
The Parliament of Australia passes the Communist Party Dissolution Bill, effectively banning the operation of the Communist Party of Australia.
George Keith Stevenson retires and Keith Stevenson (Jnr) assumes control as Managing Director.
1963
Lyndon Baines Johnson sworn in as the 36th US president after assassination of President Kennedy.
‘Keith Stevenson Pty Ltd’ is officially incorporated with the business now including 12 trucks, 4 customs brokers, and a freehold office and storage facilities.
1975
Medibank is introduced; Australia Post and Telecom are formed from the Postmaster-General’s Department (PMG).
George Keith Stevenson passes away at the age of 83.
1983
Australia II wins the America’s Cup ending the New York Yacht Club‘s 132-year domination of the race.
Jim Stevenson becomes the third generation Stevenson to join the family business. Jim’s brother Ken joins him two years later.
1986
Soviet Nuclear reactor at Chernobyl explodes causing the release of radioactive material across much of Europe.
After 50 years in the Business, Keith Stevenson (Jnr) formally retires. Jim Stevenson assumes the role of Managing Director.
2000
America Online announces an agreement to purchase Time Warner for $162 billion (the largest-ever corporate merger).
Stevenson Logistics sells its Customs Division to Sadliers to focus on its core transport and logistics division.
2004
The Boxing Day tsunami triggers an earth quake measuring 9.3 on the Richter scale.
Quarantine Treatment Service (QTS) is established by Ken Stevenson.
2005
Saddam Hussein goes on trial in Baghdad for crimes against humanity.
Stevenson Logistics acquired the operations of Fremantle Container Depot (FCD – renamed to Coote Logistics) from Engenco Ltd, establishing a key presence in the Rous Head port precinct.Quarantine Treatment Service (QTS) merges with Stevenson Logistics.
2011
Oprah Winfrey airs her last show, ending her twenty five year run of The Oprah Winfrey Show.
Stevenson Logistics relocated to the new state-of- the-art Rous Head Terminal comprising 45,000m2 of yard space and 5,000m2 warehousing.
2013
Australia has three Prime Ministers in a year. Kevin Rudd deposes Australia’s 1st female PM Julia Gillard. Tony Abbott subsequently defeats Kevin Rudd at the General Election to become Australia’s 28th PM.
Stevenson Logistics acquired Container Cargo Specialist Pty Ltd (CCS) in October 2015. The acquisition created one of Fremantle Port’s largest transport and warehouse operators, with 50 prime movers and over 100 employees across the business.
2015
Tony Abbott’s knighthood of Prince Phillip, Duke Of Edinburgh and raw onion eating prowess were not enough to sway voters, and Malcolm Turnbull defeats him to become the new Prime Minister. The RBA official cash rate reaches historic lows, falling to 2% by the end of the year
